About Our Staff

Becky McGeehan, M.Ed.

Organization, Study Skills, Learning Support

Becky received her B.S. in Special Education from Bloomsburg University in 2001 and went on to earn her M.Ed. in Special Education from West Chester University. Her teaching career began at Penncrest High School, where she served as the learning support science teacher for four years. Becky has been a private tutor since 2002, working with elementary, middle and high school students on their organizational, time management and study skills to improve their grades in all academic areas. In her free time you will find Becky outside playing various sports with her husband and three sons.

Benjamin Danson, M.A.

History, AP Gov., Writing, SAT II, SAT

Ben received his undergraduate degree from Middlebury College and a Masters degree from Teachers College, Columbia University. He has 15 years of experience teaching US History, and currently teaches the AP US History and AP American Government and Politics classes at Penncrest High School in Media, PA, where he also serves as the Social Studies Department Chair.

James Zervanos, M.F.A.

Born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, he earned his BA and MA from Bucknell University, where he was an Academic All-America baseball player and won the William Bucknell Prize for English, upon graduation in 1992. After interning as a journalist and attending law school for three semesters, he settled on writing fiction and teaching.

Jim Zervanos has taught English at Penncrest High School in Media, Pennsylvania, since 1995 and has taught creative writing at Drexel University since 2007. He has been a contributor at the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference and is a graduate of The MFA Program for Writers at Warren Wilson College in Asheville, North Carolina. For a year he lived in Athens, Greece, where he finished writing LOVE Park, his first novel. He lives with his wife in Philadelphia’s Art Museum Area.

Jim’s fiction has appeared, most recently, in the Cimarron Review, Green Mountains Review, and Philly Fiction, a collection of short stories featuring Philadelphia writers. His fiction has also appeared in the Chicago Quarterly Review, Hawaii Review, Cream City Review, Failbetter.com, and Folio, which recognized his short story “Church Camp” as the journal’s best of 1999.

The late author Helen Papanikolas wrote of Jim Zervanos, “I have often wondered why we Greek Americans have not produced writers like the young Saul Bellow. I think we now have one.”

Auste Joost, M.A.

Mathematics, Grades 6-12

Auste received her B.S. in Education (Secondary Education with a concentration in Mathematics) from Bucknell University in 2000. She then went on to earn her M.A. in Mathematics from West Chester University. Her teaching career began at Penncrest High School, where she taught Mathematics for 6 years, she then went on to teach at Wissahickon High School for a year before obtaining her current position at Conestoga High School. Auste has been working as a private tutor since 2000 and not only helps students with understanding mathematical concepts, but also works to improve students' study skills and organization. Auste lives in Blue Bell and enjoys drawing and painting.

Cindy London O’Donnell, M. Ed.

Study Skills, Organization, Writing, English, History

Cindy received a BA in psychology from Penn State in 1975, and a M.Ed. from Temple University in 1977. Cindy was an English teacher at Haverford High School for many years and a legendary yearbook editor (winning first place prize in writing for three consecutive years). She has tutored students privately since 1978. Cindy is currently enrolled in a second master’s program at the University of Scranton, concentrating in reading and writing in the content area. Cindy has become an expert in writing the high school research paper. Through her work with students from almost every area high school, Cindy has developed an unprecedented knowledge base of the specific assignments and requirements for each school. Cindy is in the unique position of working on the same assignment from the same teachers year after year. Her experience and her engaging personality allow her to communicate directly with teachers regarding her student’s writing assignments, while being technically perfect with all citation formats.

Donna B. Montich, M.A.

Spanish

Donna received her undergraduate degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, MA and has Masters degrees from both New York University (1999) and Temple University (2006). She has served as the Overseas Program Manager for Penn Abroad at the University of Pennsylvania, and has worked for one of the largest Fulbright programs worldwide as a Program Officer at the Institute of International Education in Mexico City. She currently teaches Spanish at Penncrest High School in Media, PA.

Barbara Hinski-Urban, B.A.

Chemistry and Physical Science

Barbara received her B.A. in Chemistry, with a minor in Art from Muhlenberg College, PA. She began her teaching career at Cherry Hill High School East, NJ, in September 2000, where she taught chemistry and physical science to all academic levels. Barbara left Cherry Hill East after the birth of her daughter and currently tutors students in chemistry.

Matthew Fisher, B.A.

Elementary, Learning Support & Study Skills

With Pennsylvania certifications in Elementary and Special Education and Middle School English, Matt has taught in the Philadelphia School District and the Rose Tree Media School District before his current position in Avon Grove. His experience working with special needs students and knowledge of the IEP process makes him a valuable resource for Learning Support students and their families.

Maureen Burns, M. Ed.

Mathematics, K-9

Maureen received her undergraduate degree in Accounting from the University of Scranton, PA and worked in business for 10 years as an Auditor and a Mutual Fund Accountant. She received her M.Ed. in Elementary Education from Saint Joseph’s University, PA. Maureen taught Advanced Math in grades 5-8 at Saint Charles Borromeo School in Drexel Hill. Maureen currently stays at home with her two sons and tutors math at the elementary and middle-school levels.

Karen Walker, M. Ed.

Reading Specialist, Study Skills, Learning Support

Karen has 23 years of experience as a Learning Support teacher at Penncrest High School. She received her B.A. in Special Education and her M.Ed. in Reading from East Stroudsburg University, PA. She is a certified Reading Specialist and has taught Wilson Reading for the past 7 years to 9th through 12th grade students. Karen is available to tuor students in grades K-12 in reading, study and organizational skills, earth science, biology and Algebra. Karen enjoys watching her two teenage daughters play field hockey and lacrosse. and in her free time she likes to read, travel and play golf with her husband.

Dann Furia, A.B.

SAT, ACT, PSAT Prep

Dann earned his A.B. from Princeton University in 1999 in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, where he was also a member of the varsity Swimming and Diving team. Since that time, he has developed his skills as a tutor, founding his own tutoring business as well as working with us for the past several years. Dann has successfully tutored hundreds of students in SAT and ACT preparation, as well as many other standardized and entrance exams, including the ISEE, SSAT, and SAT II. Dann is an accomplished artist, musician and producer, with four albums already released.

Kieran McLaughlin, M.S.Ed.

History, Writing, Study Skills

A member of the Social Studies department at Strath Haven High School, Kieran has a B.A. in Anthropology from Penn State and a Masters Degree in Social Studies Education from the University of Pennsylvania. A bass guitarist, avid skier and snowboarder, and mountain biker, Kieran brings energy and enthusiasm to whatever he does. He is available to work with students on history content, writing, or study skills.

Randi Baylis Conway, MPP

Mathematics, Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry

Randi received her Masters degree in Public Policy from Georgetown University, Washington D.C. in 1993 while working as a legislative assistant in the U.S. House of Representatives. She received her undergraduate degree from Saint Francis University in Loretto, PA, earning a B.A. in American Studies with a minor in Spanish. Moving to the private sector, she served as a legislative analyst in health policy for over six years, first representing non-profit hospitals and then health-care and retiree-benefit plans for Fortune-500 companies. Randi has been tutoring math student since her undergraduate days and continues to tutor students in Algebra I and Geometry. Currently, she and her family reside in Havertown, PA where she is active in clubs, athletics and study groups while raising two active children. She enjoys tutoring math to middle- and high-school students.

Laura Diksa, M. Ed.

Science

Laura graduated from the University of Delaware with a B.S. in chemistry in 2003. While working in the pharmaceutical industry, she attended Cabrini College and soon began her teaching career, earning her Masters degree in 2005. In 2006, she earned her AP Chemistry certification from La Salle University. She currently teaches AP chemistry, chemistry and environmental science at Penncrest High School and has experience working with all academic levels. Laura lives in Havertown with her husband and Boston Terrier, Dexter, where the trio spend their free time enjoying a variety of out-door activities.

Elizabeth Matlock, M.S.

Mathematics, 9-12

Beth received her undergraduate degree in Mathematics with a minor in Education from Marymount University in 2001 and went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Applied Statistics from Villanova University in 2006. Beth completed an internship for Educational Testing Services in Princeton, NJ in 2006 and is currently a math teacher at Penncrest High School in Media, PA. Beth has been tutoring high school and college students in math for over nine years.

Julie O’Donnell, M.Ed.

Elementary, Reading

Julie earned her Bachelors degree in English at Penn State and her Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction at Rosemont College. She has experience working with students from pre-school age and up on reading skills and general school support. Julie is currently an elementary school teacher in the Haverford School District.

Matt Fitzgibbons, M.A.

Spanish, Study Skills

A graduate of Holy Cross, where he was a dual major in Spanish and Sociology, Matt went on to earn a Masters degree in Spanish from Middlebury College’s renowned summer language program. Currently, he is pursuing a M.S. in Educational Leadership at St. Joseph’s University. Throughout his fifteen-year career, Matt has extensive experience teaching both English and Spanish. Presently, he is a full time Spanish instructor and the assistant football coach at St. Joseph’s Preparatory School in Philadelphia. When not teaching, Matt enjoys sports and fitness, the outdoors, martial arts, and spending time with family and friends.

Meredith Mollitt, M.Ed.

Elementary, Reading

Meredith earned both a Bachelors and Masters degree from LaSalle University, and is Pennsylvania certified in Elementary Education and Special Education. A kindergarten teacher at the M. Hall Stanton elementary school in Philadelphia, Meredith has a range of experience working with students from a variety of backgrounds in the classroom and as a private tutor. Located in Philadelphia, she is available to work with students in the city.

Jennifer McNulty-Brown, M. Ed.

English, Writing Skills, Organization

Jennifer received her undergraduate degree from Temple University where she studied Magazine Journalism and History. She worked briefly in Journalism before continuing her education at Cabrini College, where she earned her M.Ed. in English and Communication Studies. She is currently an English and Broadcast Journalism teacher at Haverford High School. She especially enjoys working with students on writing projects, organizational techniques and literature analysis. She lives in Havertown, with her husband Kevin and her three sons Ryan, Luke and Harper.

Gail Weingarten, M.A.

Mathematics, SAT, Study Skills, Organization

Gail earned a B.A. in Mathematics, with a minor in Secondary Education from the State University of New York at Albany. She also holds an M.A. from the University of Maryland in Counseling and Student Personnel Administration. Gail taught secondary mathematics after graduating and also has 15+ years of business experience in technical sales and management. Most recently she has been substitute teaching and tutoring math. Gail lives in Villanova with her husband and sons. She is active in the Radnor community and enjoys tennis, golf, fitness and her family.

April Forgeng, M.Ed.

Writing, English, and Study Skills

April received her B.A. in English and a certificate in Women’s Studies from Dickinson College and went on to earn her M.Ed. in Elementary Education from St. Joseph’s University. She has also earned her teaching certificates in Literature (K-12) and Mathematics (7-9). April’s experiences range from volunteering for Philadelphia Reads to interning at NBC Channel 10 and working for TV Guide magazine. After several years in public relations, April taught for the School District of Philadelphia in both elementary and middle school. She is currently a member of Haverford High School's English Department. When she’s not busy teaching and tutoring April enjoys reading, running, writing and surfing.

Courtney Rindgen, B.A.

Mathematics, specializing in Calculus

Courtney received her B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Texas in 1995. Her degree focus was Mathematics and Business applications. After working as a sales manager for several years, Courtney earned her teaching credential in California in 1997. While student teaching, she began private tutoring in high school mathematics. After teaching upper level and AP mathematics and physics in both California and her home state of Texas, Courtney taught at Lower Merion High School before leaving to stay home with her two sons. She now works exclusively with high school students one on one. In her free time, Courtney enjoys reading, gardening and exercise.

Jennifer Migliaccio, B.A.

Elementary Education and Organizational Skills

Jen graduated from Millersville University in 1995 with a B.A. in elementary education. She taught in MD as an elementary school science teacher for two years, and then moved to NJ where she taught fourth and fifth grades in the Haddon Township School District. She is available to work with elementary students (grades K-6) in all subject areas, including organizational skills and time management. Jen resides in Wynnewood with her husband and son. She enjoys reading, working in the garden, running, and spending time with her family.

Staci Gillespie, B.A.

Elementary Education and Organizational Skills

Staci graduated from Purdue University in 1993. She earned a B.A. degree in Elementary Education with a Minor in Reading. She taught for 7 years in NJ before leaving when her first son was born. Staci taught the Gifted Program, a Collaborative Teaching Class for Special Education, and was a Classroom Teacher in Grades One through Four. She has been tutoring elementary school students for many years. Staci now enjoys staying at home to raise her 4 children. She also enjoys reading, golf, photography, and spending time at the beach.

John Kim, M.A.

Secondary Education Science Curriculum Supervisor
Physics, secondary science

John earned his undergraduate degree in Physics in 1991 from Villanova University. He continued his education there receiving a Masters Degree in 1998, as well as his PA Certification. He has taught physics and math at Radnor High School and has been teaching Physics at Conestoga High School since 1996. John developed and taught a calculus based AP Physics C program at Conestoga as well as a conceptual level physics course. He is fluent in Korean and enjoys traveling, skiing, golf, and photography

Susan Mutter, B.S. Ed.

Learning Support, Study Skills, Special Education

Susan received her Bachelor's Degree in education from Millersville University and is certified in Special Education, K-12, in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. She has worked as a learning support and emotional support teacher for students on the elementary, middle and secondary levels for over 10 years, and has also done private tutoring and homebound instruction for students in all academic areas. Susan is currently employed by the Chester County Intermediate Unit and she resides in West Chester, PA with her husband and two sons who are both engineering students at Drexel University. Helping families navigate the process of college applications is a particular passion for Susan.

Christina Dolan, B.A.

Mathematics

Christina received her B.A. in Mathematics with Certification in Secondary Education from Immaculata University. She moved into the business world working as a computer trainer for QVC and America Online and continued working in the information technology industry in project and software engineer management. Christina is currently co-owner of Logic Board Shop in Havertown, PA and serves on the Board of Directors of the Haverford Partnership for Economic Development, a local non-profit organization. Christina enjoys yoga, cooking and hiking with her husband and their 3 children. A true math geek, she thinks solving problems is fun and she loves helping people understand math.

Sarah Sweeney, M.Ed.

Spanish

Sarah received a B.S. in both Secondary Education with the Spanish option and Spanish from the Pennsylvania State University in 2004. She also earned a minor in International Studies following a semester abroad in Seville, Spain. Sarah went on to earn her Masters in Education from Cabrini College in 2009. She has taught Spanish I, II, and III to both middle school and high school students and is currently teaching at Garnet Valley High School where she sponsors her school’s Spanish Club and is busy planning a trip to Spain with 75 students. Sarah has been a private tutor since 2006. She resides in Philadelphia and spends her free time traveling.

Brian Tonelli, M.Ed.

Reading, Writing

Brian graduated from Shippensburg University in 1999 with a degree in English Education 7-12. In 2003 Brian received his Master's Degree from Wilmington University in School Administration. He is currently teaching seventh grade literature at Kingsway Regional Middle School in Southern New Jersey where he is an interdisciplinary team leader and coaches basketball. Additionally, Brian has developed and run a writer's workshop for aspiring authors and an after school program entitled "Academics and Athletics" where he assisted struggling readers and writers. In 2007 Brian was named Kingsway School District's Teacher of the Year. Brian resides in West Chester with his wife and son. He enjoys reading, jogging, playing basketball, and traveling.

Autumn Wright, B.A.

Study Skills, Organization, Reading Specialist

Autumn received her B.A. in Communications and Broadcast Journalism from Shippensburg University in 1997. Soon after, she earned her elementary education teaching certificate and M.Ed. In 2003 she completed her Reading Specialist certification. Autumn has taught third and fourth grade and is currently a first grade teacher in the Souderton Area School District. Autumn tutors high school students in study skills and organization and enjoys working with students of all ages in the areas of reading and writing. When not teaching, Autumn enjoys spending time with her husband and 3 young children.

Matthew Davis, M.S.

Mathematics

Mat graduated West Chester University in 2005 with his BSED in Mathematics. After graduation, Mat taught mathematics at the junior high level (grades 7-9) at Boyertown Junior High School West. During this time, Mat earned his MS in Applied Statistics from West Chester University. Currently, he is working as a statistician consulting for pharmaceutical clinical trials. He began work on his PhD in Biostatistics in July of 2010. Mat has been tutoring students ranging from grade seven through college level for more than seven years in mathematics and has extensive experience in SAT mathematics preparation. In his spare time, Mat likes to spend time with his wife Stephanie and son Mason, play on a local softball team, and read statistics books.

Adam Dreibelbis, M.S.

Adam earned an undergraduate degree in physics and mathematics from Susquehanna University before pursuing a Master's degree in civil engineering at the University of Washington. In addition to tutoring, Adam works as an engineering consultant for railroads. In his spare time, Adam enjoys hiking, cooking, and spending time with his wife and daughter.

Malanie Young, M.Ed.

Organization, Study Skills & Learning Support

Melanie received her B.S. in Elementary and Special Education from University of Delaware in 1998 and went on to earn her M.Ed. in Education emphasizing Special Education Transition from George Washington University. She began her teaching career in Arlington, Virginia as a learning support teacher. After moving back to Chester County, PA, she worked as an Early Intervention Service Coordinator for the Chester County Intermediate Unit. Currently, Melanie has been a private tutor since 2009, working with elementary, middle and high school students on their organizational, time management and study skills to improve their grades in all academic areas. Melanie enjoys spending time with her husband and children and playing tennis.

Alana Mellor, M.S.Ed.

History, AP Government, Writing, Organization & Study Skills

Alana received her B.A. in Political Science from the University of Rochester, NY. After internships with the British House of Commons in London and the House of Representatives in Washington, D.C., she spent a few years working in Pennsylvania State Government. In 2004, Alana earned her M.S.Ed. in Secondary Social Studies Education from the University of Pennsylvania. Since then, she has been a member of the Social Studies Department at Haverford High School where she teaches classes in European History, World History, and Government. Alana has worked privately with students of all ages, and especially enjoys helping students with research, essay writing, note taking, and AP test preparation. Alana resides in Oreland, PA with her husband and daughter. In her free time, Alana enjoys reading, running, and going to the beach.

Kristin Luther, M.Ed.

English, Social Studies, Writing Skills & SAT Prep

Kristin received her B.A. in English, with minors in religion and secondary education from the University of Richmond in 2001 and went on to earn her masters degree in Multicultural Education from Eastern University. Kristin began her teaching career in Richmond, Virginia as a high school English teacher. After moving to Pennsylvania, she worked as an 8th grade English teacher and gifted support teacher at Haverford Middle School. Kristin is currently enjoying her time at home with her two sons, working as a private tutor and teaching courses at DCCC. In her free time, Kristin enjoys running, cooking and reading.

Suzanne Stadnicki, M.A.

French, Level I - AP

Suzanne received her B.A. in French Language and Literature from George Washington University and went on to earn her M.A. in Linguistics from the University of Delaware. She has been a French teacher at Strath Haven High School in Delaware County since 1999. During her teaching career, Suzanne has taught all levels of French, including the AP course. In additon to teaching AP French, she was also a reader for the AP French Exam for four years.
